Citrix Printing Rules

1. Use universal printing if possible;
2. Client network printer should also be mapped by EMF and the print output should go through the client in indirect mode;
3. Print server should always be located in the same network as the XenApp server, especially when the printers are in a WAN location, branch office;
4. If print server is not in the same network as XenApp server, use indirect mode;(Server Setting)
5. Use UPS to connect to printers located on the print server;
6. Set Microsoft group policies to disallow Point-To-Print (P2P), use print isolation, and disallow kernel-mode drivers and render jobs on the print server.

         Always render print jobs on the server
         Execute print drivers in isolated processes
         Point to Print Restrictions (set to localhost)
         Disallow installation of printers using kernel-mode drivers
7. Disable automatic installation of printer drivers for users
8. Avoid PCL6 printer driver if have to use 3rd party printer driver
9. Limit the amount of printer drivers
10.Use auto created printer drivers when using Published Applications
11.Use the Universal Printer Driver when possible when using the auto created printers.
12.Limit available bandwidth for printer (auto created printers) using the Citrix policies to guarantee performance of the sessions
13.When using a Published Desktop (especially with Thin Client), there is no option for auto created printers
14.Consider the use of third party product if published Desktop over low bandwidth connections, or routed print jobs via print servers on location
